Wedding Inspiration | Something Blue for the Modern Bride

“Instilling calm, confidence, and connection, this enduring blue hue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era.” With this statement, Classic Blue was unveiled as the Pantone Colour of the Year 2020. Their words made me immediately think about how perfect this colour – which also happens to be my personal favourite colour – is for a wedding. After all, by getting married you are beginning a new, exciting era built on a stable and joint foundation.

According to the traditional wedding rhyme, wearing something blue on the wedding day will bring the newlyweds good luck as blue symbolizes love, purity and loyalty. This is why many brides used to wear a blue garter under their dress but there are so many more ways to integrate something blue in creative and individual ways and in line with a more modern wedding.

Modern colour accents with a touch of romance

Blue hues can also be used perfectly in fashion, flowers and wedding decorations. Inspired by this concept, photographer Bina Terré and make-up artist Maria Overath created an incredibly beautiful photo-shoot we would like to show you here today. The two used different shades of blue in the make-up, flowers and decorations and selected timelessly modern pieces from our current “Simplicity” collection: our long pull-through earrings “Dream Couple” with their delicate drops of Swarovski crystals, the statement pearl earrings “Unity” and our “Dew Drops” creoles with baroque pearls.

I feel that Bina and Maria have created a highly harmonious and contemporary look that can serve as an inspiration for brides who long for a touch of romance, yet also want to emphasize their modern side.
