Birthstone February | AMETHYST

Did you know that the colour violet occurs everywhere in nature where a particular force or energy exists? No wonder the amethyst, with its fascinating shades ranging from delicate purple to rich dark violet, has been considered a “stone of kings” for centuries and has been incorporated exclusively into crowns, sceptres or royal jewellery. Fortunately for us, ordinary mortals, we also have access to it – and as the February birthstone, he’s the star of our new mini collection!

The amethyst is a power stone: Rumour has it that the amethyst is said to promote the ability to concentrate and help to absorb information better. During mood swings, it ensures inner balance and protects against sleep disorders and nightmares. He symbolises patience, tranquillity, strength and peace. Not only is it a perfect gift for those who celebrate their birthday in February, because it offers something for each of us to identify with. Also on Valentine’s Day on February 14, a piece of jewellery with amethyst is an ideal gift, because he’s supposed to strengthen the sense of family, friendship, emotional dedication and the trust of his carrier in himself and other people.

Here’s a fun fact to round things off: the name “Amethyst” actually comes from the Greek word “amethystos” which means “countering drunkness”. The ancient Greeks used to manufacture their wine chalices from Amethyst because the semi-precious stone is supposed to prevent drunkness or at least reduce it. Although I assume no guarantee for the truth of this theory, if someone can confirm this, I would be pleasantly surprised to hear a testimonial. ?
