Why not do something good? That was one of the questions that came up in our brainstorming session a couple of weeks ago. We decided to launch a Christmas campaign where we will support a good cause.
The idea is pretty simple: We will donate 1€ from every single piece of jewellery we sell between the 24th of November till the 31st of December 2011 to 46PLUS.
What is 46PLUS?
About the organization:
Stuttgart parents of children with Down Syndrome have been meeting since 1999. The non-profit organisation 46PLUS – Down-Syndrom Stuttgart e. V. grew out of the parent group in September of 2003. The organisation strives to promote awareness of Down Syndrome and present it in a positive light by way of a diverse action plan. 46PLUS’s mission is to reduce people’s prejudices and fears of interaction with individuals with Down Syndrome, to foster courage, and to advocate for the active and self-determined inclusion of people with Down Syndrome in life and society.
About Down Syndrome:
Down Syndrome occurs when an individual has three 21st chromosomes instead of the usual two (hence its other name, Trisomy 21). One in every 600-700 babies is born with Down Syndrome; in Germany, about 1200 children are born with Down Syndrome every year. Trisomy 21 is a genetic mutation. It is an inherited condition only in very rare cases, and is in no way a sickness or a disease. Every child with Down Syndrome is unique in character, personality and expression of intelligence and learning abilities, usually meeting the same developmental milestones as their typically-developing peers, albeit at a slower pace. Thanks to advances in detection and treatment of heart defects and severe infections, the life expectancy for individuals with Down Syndrome has increased greatly in recent years.
We had the pleasure of getting to know the renowned photographer Conny Wenk about 2 months ago. We immediately fell in love with her as a person, her beautiful photography, the love she has for her profession, her incredible eye for gorgeous natural lighting, the love and joy that every single photo reflects, and so many other things.
So we contacted her asking if she would be interested in working with us. We sat down and discussed loads of things. One of the results of that meeting was a very spontaneous photo shoot with the beautiful Tamara, a 15-year-old young lady with Down syndrome. Conny just called her up and we were good to go. What we achieved were beautiful photos from Tamara wearing our precious jewellery.

We hope you like them as much as we do and support 46PLUS.
You can also make a donation. If you are interested in doing that, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will give you the bank information from 46PLUS
